Veterans: Thank you

I write this a day in advance from my heart. There are three holidays I respect, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. These are times when we can look back at our country and remeber where we came from.

I thank God for this country everyday for this country. This is the GREATEST country to EVER exist. It is only because of the men and woman who have laid down their lives for this country to be free.

This song below is the U.S Airforce Song. As you listen to it, you will hear powerful words.

Growing up, I had a natural sense of pride for this country. Both my parents have served this country. My mom did four years with the United States Air Force, and my father did nearly 15 years with the United States Army and currently about 6 years with the United States Air Force.

My father will read be reading this blog in Afghanistan this week were he is currently deployed. This is not my fathers first tour, but rather is third. Imagine that, a 52-year-old still protecting his country. His last two tours he did voluntary.

Thank you once again to ALL those who have served.  I want to especially thank a few friends… (I hope I don’t miss anyone and spelled the names correctly) :-)

Bridget Harris-my mom, Mark Harris,- my dad,

Other Family members- Arthur Janics, Kirby Galt, Dennis Hensley, & Lee Reed.

Friends: Pastor Wayman Mitchell, Steve & Sissy  Owens, Ruben & Marcy Sandoval, Doris Martinez, Lupe Arredondo, Isaac Cortez, Gene LaValley, Jerry & Barbara  Hamper, Paul & Barbara Hart,  Renee Munoz, Mr. Medrano, Josh Steele, Jeff Colen, Amy Rentz, Noe Garcia, Josque Zapata, Richard Lantz, Joey Ovalle, Dan Yolder, Ken Haywood, Greg Mazick  Chris Kelley, Kim Crum, Wade Shultz, Tina Chapoy, Gilbert Chavez, Barry Parker, Gilbert Martinez,  Willis Gordon, Alvin Smith, Roland Perez and his mother Liz.

Thank you VERY much for serving this country, and if you are thankful too, thank these people tomorrow.

Most of them CHOSE to serve this country. They weren’t forced to.

Here are the lyrics:

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At ‘em boys, Give ‘er the gun! (Give ‘er the gun now!)
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one heckuva roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame.
Hey! Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!

Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder
Sent it high into the blue
Hands of men blasted the world asunder,
How they lived God only knew!
Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer
Gave us wings ever to soar,
With scouts before and bombers galore, Hey!
Nothing’ll stop the US Air Force!

Here’s a toast to the host of those
Who love the vastness of the sky,
To a friend we send a message
Of his brother men who fly.
We drink to those who gave their all of old,
Then down we roar
to score the rainbow’s pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast, the US Air Force.

Zoom!

Off we go into the wild sky yonder,
Keep the wings level and true!
If you’d live to be a grey-haired wonder,
Keep your nose out of the blue! (Out of the blue, boy!)
Flying men guarding the nation’s border,
We’ll be there, followed by more,
In echelon we carry on! Hey!
Nothing’ll stop the US Air Force

Brent, thanks for taking time to honor all those who have served and are still serving! Please remember my loving husband, Ruben Sandoval, as he served 3 years in the US Army. Truly, it was an honor me to serve in the US Air Force of this great nation! (However, I don’t think, I’ve ever sang all the verses of the song!)

I’m sure there’s a ton you could add, but I’ll add my wonderful hubby of 19 1/2 years, Jerry Hamper and one of his best friends, Pastor Willis Gordon.

Let’s not forget Ashley “Ramirez” as she is serving at Fort Hood and was present during this week’s tragic shooting.

  3. Ken H. says:

Thank you Brent, it is not whether or not you remember everyone’s name it is the thought… You are a patriot, and what our country needs much more of these days.
